In my body of work The Mother I explore themes of womanhood, motherhood, and domesticity through the use of bedsheets and wax crayons. The materials chosen reflect both the intimacy and vulnerability of these experiences, as well as the domesticity inherent in being a woman and a mother. Through depictions of fairies and flora, I delve into the magic and beauty of these roles, but also the challenges and complexities that come with them. Created during a time of isolation during the global pandemic, this body of work captures my thoughts and feelings on navigating womanhood, relationships with family and friends, and ultimately finding strength in myself.
